JOHIA Medical outreach at Pasiday, Itugon, Benguet

Thanks to all who sent contributions and prayers to the JOHIA medical outreach in Benguet last Nov. 27, 2009. It was held at Life In Jesus Ministry branch in Pasiday, Itugon, Benguet.
During the Typhoon Pepeng outpour, residents of the site were isolated due to the mudslide covering the roads. The site was a 2 hour drive from Baguio and we were able to start clinic at 9:30 AM. In coordination with Ptr. Ed Chan of Ablaze for Jesus and Ptr. Thim Bugtong of Life In Jesus Ministry, the outreach was able to serve almost 80 patients who were mostly stricken with respiratory problems. Almost half were in the pediatric age group. Some symptoms were also work related since most of them were either are farmers or are working in the nearby mines. We closed the clinic by 4PM.
After being treated to a great dinner, we were taken to the Youth gathering where we held a service for them. The Spirit of God fell during worship and continued to work during the preaching and the ministry time after. God was so awesome that the team was so refreshed after a long day. Everyone in the service was so hungry that the Spirit manifested in power and gifts.
The next day, after breakfast, the team went to the mudslide site that was struck worst by the downpour of Typhoon Pepeng. It was at the Trinidad Valley and near Benguet State University where we stayed. We learned that almost 80 people died in the disaster and several are still missing. There, we met Sis. Bridget, who told her story in tears. She lost a daughter in law and 2 grandchildren in the mudslide. As we prayed for her, we felt God’s comfort for her. Seeing the aftermath and hearing her story, we also felt her grief and some of us went back to the van weeping.
Afterwards, we were taken to the strawberry farm where some of us experienced harvesting and bought products to take home. Then we went to Mines view Park, Good Shepherd convent, and SM before departing for Manila.
